Modern Standard Arabic (al-fuṣḥā), written without short-vowel marks; the romanisation is a simplified scholarly system (ā ī ū long vowels, dots under emphatic consonants, ʿ for ʿayn, ʾ for hamza) in pausal form, with the article always written al- even where it is said as the next consonant (al-shams, said ash-shams), and stress is not marked. Written for Testera; the example sentences are original. On 18 October 2026 every headword was looked up in English Wiktionary: 60 of 66 have an entry of their own in Arabic, and for 2 phrases without one every word has an entry; the other 4, such as على اليسار, have no entry there. The gender of every noun (36 of 36) agrees with Wiktionary. Words, glosses and example sentences have not yet been reviewed by a native speaker. Spotted something to fix? Tell us.
